CSA Leadership Congratulates 2018 Scholarship Recipients
On Friday, June 8, CSA invited this year’s scholarship recipients to CSA Headquarters in order to receive their prize and celebrate their notable achievement: Patricia Booth from Harry S. Truman HS in the Bronx; Christel Adhemar from the School for Human Rights HS in Brooklyn; Brian Li from Stuyvesant HS in Manhattan; Alsayyed Farrouq from the HS for Construction, Trades, Engineering & Architecture in Queens; and Nicholas Chin from Port Richmond HS in Staten Island.
Six years ago, CSA established the college scholarship fund for NYC public high school seniors who have shown leadership potential and have overcome challenges to graduate, and who require financial assistance to continue their education. As in years past, a committee of active and retired CSA members reviewed all applications and selected one student per borough based on the location of the high school they attended. This year, we received our largest response so far, and the final decisions were as difficult as ever, given there were so many impressive applicants.
