CSA Members Honored
by CSA News Staff

A number of CSA members have been or will be honored. We’re delighted to report the following awards have been presented or will be presented:

  • The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) named Luis Torres, Principal, PS 55, D-9, one of its 2011 Outstanding Young Educators of the Year. Mr. Torres was honored at the organization’s 66th annual Conference in San Francisco on March 26.
     
  • The Catholic Teachers Association of the Diocese of Brooklyn honored educators at its annual memorial mass and communion luncheon on April 2. Christopher Ogno, Principal, PS 247, D-20, received the James O’Mahoney Award; Mary Harrington, Principal, MS 381, D-22, received the Saint Catherine Laboure Award and Herman Merritt, retired Principal and current CSA Political Affairs Director, was the recipient of the Saint Michael the Archangel Award.
     
  • Melvin Martinez was presented with the Educational Leadership Award at the Somos El Futuro conference on April 2 in Albany. Mr. Martinez is the Assistant Principal of PS 257, D-14, Brooklyn. The school’s Drumline and Trumpet clubs performed at the luncheon.
     
  • The National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Inc.,will honor CSA Executive Director Operations Anita Gomez-Palacio and four CSA members at its annual Educational/Leadership Project Banquet on May 19.

The CSA members are Pierre Lehmuller, CSA’s Conference Chair and Executive Director of NYCESPA; Ramon Gonzalez, Principal, MS 223, D-7; Leticia Rosario, Principal, PS/MS 218, D-9 and Marilyn Torres PS 145, D-32.
