Highlights and Success Stories from A Renewal School

Highlights from JHS 80 The Mosholu Parkway School:

1. 8th Grader Muktadir Ansary is a former ENL student that arrived to our school in 6th grade with a Level 1 in Math and Level 2 in ELA. If I told you he were a 4 in ELA and a 4 in Math by 8th grade, we would celebrate his achievement together. However, I want to share that he has graduated with 5 High School Regents (English (scored 95), Algebra (scored 80), Living Environment(scored 85), US History(scored 78), and Earth Science(scored 84).

2. 8th grader Franklyn Soba is a former ENL studentthat arrived to our school with a Level 1 in both ELA and Math, but graduated with 4 High School Regents and an 80 in the English Regent.

3. 8th grader Carlos Gonzalez is a former ENL student that arrived with a 1 in ELA and a 2 in Math, but graduated with 4 High School Regents.

4. 8th Grader Dioseline Diaz is a former ENL student who arrived with a 1 in ELA and a 2 in Math, but graduated with 4 High School Regents.

5. 8th Grader Orpa Onuprova is a former ENL student who arrived with a 1 in ELA, but graduated with 4 High School Regents and an 88 in the English Regent.

6. 8th Grader Lesley Reye sis a former ENL student who graduated with 4 Regents and an 85 in the English Regent.

7. 8th Grader Anatalia Hernandez is a former ENL student who graduated with 4 Regents and an 88 in the English Regent.

8. 8th Grader Dijan Krasniqi is a former ENL student who graduated with 4 Regents and an 80 in the English Regent.

9. 8th Grader Rovila Preldekaj graduated with 4 Regents and a 96 in the English Regent.

10. 8th Grader Savanah Young graduated with 4 Regents, a 95 in the English Regent and a 93 in the US History Regent.

• All of the students above also attained the corresponding course credits for each of the Regents they passed.
• 25% of the 8th graders graduated with at least 1 Regent exam and corresponding course credits
• 31 students graduated with 2 to 5 High School Regents and the corresponding course credits.

*** Our Valedictorian and Salutatorian for at least the last 3 years have been ENL Students.

This was the first graduating cohort of our Accelerated Track, which we began 3 years ago. We have another incredibly strong group coming up from 7th grade and look forward to building on this work.
