CSA marked the looming end of the school year this month with awards, recognitions, scholarships and food at the annual Joint Field Chairs and Executive Board meeting.
Field and Assistant Field directors, Early Childhood directors and Advisory Committee members held group meetings during the June 8, daylong conference at the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel.
President Logan, Executive Vice President Mark Cannizzaro, First Vice President Randi Herman, Political Affairs Director Herman Merritt, and General Counsel David Grandwetter addressed a joint meeting of all the groups, updating them on the unions current concerns before reconvening in the hotel banquet hall for the awards banquet.
President Logan and Executive Vice President Cannizzaro presented congratulatory awards to new retirees Laverne Nimmons, Naomi Drouillard, Roberto Flores, Beshire Abdellatif and Elizabeth De Francesco, and congratulated Early Childhood Exec Board Member Amber Cartwright on her recent marriage.
President Logan also offered condolences to colleague of the late Williesteen Moore, a former Early Childhood Exec Board member.
CSA also presented $2,000 college scholarships to high school seniors Hagir Elzin of Brooklyn's Fort Hamilton High, Jodie-Ann Williams of Harry S. Truman High in the Bronx, Raymond Nunez of Manhattan's Life Science Secondary School, Nia Daniels of Renaissance Charter School in Queens, and to Nicole Maley of Staten Island's Susan E. Wagner High School.
Several of the scholarship winners and their parents, family, teachers and principals were in attendance.
