WNET once again thanked our volunteers for their support.

General Membership Meeting on Dec. 6 at CSA Educational Leadership Conference

The Retiree Chapter will hold its general membership meeting in conjunction with CSA's Educational Leadership Conference on Dec. 6 at the NY Hilton Midtown. The Retiree Chapter will honor Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan, the chair of the Assembly Education Committee and a longtime supporter of the city's schools and labor.

Later in the day, at the CSA Conference luncheon, CSA President Ernest Logan will present Bill PInkett with the Peter S. O'Brien Award for his service to the union. The award is named for a former President of CSA who work tirelessly on behalf of his colleagues.

The Retiree Chapter membership meeting will begin after breakfast, which will give you plenty of time for chatting with your colleagues. The registration link for retirees will be posted soon. (You may also register for the CSA luncheon on that form.)

NY1 anchor Cheryl Wills will keynote CSA's conference. She is the author of "Die Free: A Heroic Family History," an account of her ancestor, Sandy Wills, who served in the Civil War as a member of the United States Colored Troops, and her father, Clarence Wills, who was the first black firefighter at Engine 1/Ladder 24 - the oldest engine company in Manhattan. Ms. Wills will relate her foray into historical research for her book as it relates to today's curriculum challenges.
