McGraw-Hill Corporate Headquarters
This spring, the Advanced Leadership Program for Assistant Principals (ALPAP) graduated nearly 60 aspiring Principals at its final seminar at the McGraw-Hill corporate headquarters in Manhattan.
The event began with greetings from CSA President Ernest Logan and ELI Executive Director Eloise Messineo, who congratulated the group and wished them the best in their future endeavors in the public school system. Dr. Messineo encouraged all the graduates to register for ELI's summer professional development workshops as a way to continue their professional growth.
A special panel was conducted by ALPAP Coordinator Janet Aravena and included newly appointed school leaders and ALPAP alumni. Panelists shared their experiences working in the new era of accountability in education. Plus, they provided great tips on how to lead a troubled or phase-out school and implement services that promote student success. Finally, school leaders emphasized the challenges of building trust and expectations with a new staff.
