Who We Are

We are 6,200 NYC public school Principals, Assistant Principals, Supervisors and Education Administrators who – united by the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators – provide leadership for some 1.1 million children in 1,700 NYC public schools.

In our active leadership roles, we serve at the helm of elementary, middle and high schools, small and large schools, traditional public schools and public charter schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island.
Principals and Assistant Principals are in charge of the overall administration of schools and have many more responsibilities and a higher degree of accountability than ever before. These responsibilities include managing school budgets, planning curriculum and providing professional development for their staffs. Education Administrators are the behind-the-scenes experts in a wide variety of areas including English Language Learners, technology in the classroom, safety, gang prevention, drug education and special education. School Supervisors oversee the work of school psychologists, speech therapists and social workers.
CSA members collaborate with teachers, families and community members to help our students learn to their full potential. We believe that our children flourish when we, the leaders of the largest school system in the nation, have a vision and communicate it effectively to all of our students, parents, teachers and community members.
